The collection consists mainly of correspondence between Charles W. Hubner and Paul Hamilton Hayne, residing at Cape Hill near Augusta (Ga.). The Hayne letters are originals, the Hubner letters are reproductions. The letters are friendly correspondence containing comments on the poetry composed by each, family news, and discussions of works by others. Also includes letters to Hubner from Hayne's wife Mary and son William H. Hayne, and letters from Hayne to Hubner's daughter, Ida.

This collection contains a hand-made photo book made by Ernest L. Bigler in 1925 featuring photographs of the Chattahoochee River near its source in White County, Georgia, combined with the words to Sidney Lanier's 1877 poem "Song of the Chattahoochee." It also includes a letter from Lanier's son Henry W. Lanier to Bigler from 1925 regarding the photo book Bigler hoped to publish. There is also a letter from Anges Brosnan to the president of the Lanier Association of Macon, Georgia from 1929 asking for photographs of the Chattahoochee River to be used for a friend's class. Eleven loose photographs are included.

The collection consists of a variety of materials donated by the author after her induction into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame in 2010. It consists of manuscripts, correspondence, posters, and many other materials pertaining to her lengthy career. The bulk of the manuscript material document her fictional works in the children and young adult genres, while also highlighting some non-fiction works and poetry collections. Occasional book cover designs and poetry chapbook layouts are also included with the manuscripts. Also included are materials related to Cofer's professional career as a teacher and author, with correspondence, notebooks and journals.
